CAEN SpA announces the new EASY2READ® family of UHF RFID Readers

CAEN SpA announces today the release of brand new products for the European UHF RFID market: the EASY2READ® family. The target is to provide customers with the best hardware solution to handle every Radio Frequency Identification need in the UHF band.
Three families of readers constitute the new product line, depending on target applications: small, medium and large sized readers.
Small readers are addressed to solve the problem of proximity reading/writing of tags and labels, where transponders are up to 1 metre distance from the reader and where compactness has to be the most important feature, thus allowing integration into PDAs, handheld devices and label printers. Two products representing this family are available: a multiprotocol compact OEM module with low power consumption and a fully integrated compact reader with USB interface and an integrated antenna. Both units are EPC Gen2 compliant.
Medium sized readers combine compactness and full power availability to the antenna, addressing the less demanding installations. The two devices belonging to this product family are an OEM module and a standalone reader equipped with an IP65 housing, both compliant to the new ETSI 302 208 and to EPC Gen2.
Finally, the large sized reader is an evolution of the existing CAEN Long Range UHF Reader (A928), fully compliant to the new ETSI 302 208 and to EPC Gen2; it provides a full range of interfaces and full power to up to four antennas, in order to allow full portal installations.
EASY2READ® products join the award winning A928 Reader, already successfully deployed in several European RFID test centres and pilot installations, such as the Danish EPCglobal Compliance Test Centre, the Finnish RFID Lab and the ABB Drives factory in Helsinki.
Radio Frequency Identification technology has drastically changed the traditional barcode technology giving birth to an effective mean to automatize logistics and simplify the supply chain processes. This technology is predicted to have a big impact on competitiveness of production and on efficiency in the labelling of goods and transport packaging.
