Nuclear: V1718: VME-USB2.0 Bridge |
|
|
|
|
|

CAEN announces the imminent production of the V1718: a 1-unit wide VME controller which can be interfaced to the Universal Serial Bus (USB 2.0) port of a standard PC. The module performs all the most used VME data addressings, data transfers and Interrupt Acknowledge cycles. The module features a LED display which allows to monitor the VME dataway activity.
The V1718 in detail:
- VME master (arbiter or requester)
- VME slave (registers and SRAM access)
- System Controller
(when in slot 1) [Errata corrige (May 2004)]
- Cycles: RW, RMW, BLT, MBLT, IACK, ADO, ADOH
- Addressing: A16, A24, A32, A40, A64, CR-CSR
- Interrupt handler and Interrupter
- Location Monitor
- VME Data transfer > 60 Mb/s (*)
(*) Errata corrige (May 2004): the transfer rate is actually 30 MB/s
The VME interface is on FPGA and the firmware can be upgraded from the USB port.
The FPGA can drive and/or receive all the lines of the VME64X bus (including MTM bus).
It is possible to implement any new features like 2eVME, 2eSST, etc.

Nuclear: The CAEN Model C1205 16-Channel Charge Integrating
ADC |
|
|
|
|

The CAEN CAMAC DAQ line welcomes a new module: the
CAEN Model C1205 QDC is a single
width CAMAC module, provided with 16 independent
input channels, which embodies all the operational
characteristics which have proved important for
general purpose use in high energy particle physics,
including expanded resolution, high sensitivity,
excellent stability and fast digitizing rate; FASTCAMAC
operation is also supported.
The C1205 combines a triple range (the total dynamic
range is greater than 17 bits, in three overlapping
12 bit ranges) gated integrator charge to voltage
converter, 3 Wilkinson type analog to time converters
and a sub nanosecond time digitizer.
The result is a high performance, wide dynamic
range QDC with low (5.5 µS) dead time. The
module contains a multiple event buffer that can
store up to 51 events. Using FASTCAMAC, this buffer
can be read out at up to 30 Megabytes/sec. |

> Microelectronics: ISO 18000-6 compliant RF IDentification system |
|
|
|
|
CAEN Network has been starting several activities in the field of Radio Frequency IDentification systems. Our interest has been focused in the UHF long range devices and for this purpose Aurelia Microelettronica and CAEN Nuclear have been developing a RFID reader and several tags compliant to the ISO 18000-6 protocol. Aurelia has developed an IP regarding a VHDL code implementing a fully ISO 18000-6 compliant interface.
The transport monitoring (freight containers, access control for both civil and military application, vehicle parking), the supply chain management (pharmaceutical products and food) & quality control (tracking and environment conditions monitoring) and the airline baggage identification are the typical applications for this devices, that can be also easily suitable to many other purposes.

Computing: SY1527/2527 Firmware Release 2.00 |
|
|
|
|
The firmware of the top of the line CAEN Power Supply Sytems has been upgraded and added with new useful features:
- System administration management introduced: the Users can now change their Password and the Administrator can now either add or remove Users.
- OPC session management upgraded: an OPC session inactive for more than 30 minutes is automatically shut ("killed").
The upgraded firmware is available for download from site.
