AURELIA background experience
Starting from 1998 AURELIA has been a Centre of Competence (official design centre) of TEMIC Semiconductors for DMILL rad-hard technology.
In 2002 AURELIA received the certifications UNI EN ISO 9001:2000 for Quality System concerning the following activities: “Design, production, marketing and support for electronic and in particular microelectronic devices”.
The experience acquired in the design of devices for aerospace applications, allowed AURELIA to sign a collaboration agreement with Aeroflex in 2003. Thanks to this partnership AURELIA has become the exclusive Aeroflex Design Centre in Europe.
During 2004-2005 AURELIA developed an Elliptic Curve Cryptography microprocessor IP with 4-way superscalar 6 pipe RISC architecture, now implemented on an FPGA housed on a PCI cryptographic accelerator board.
Since 2005 in the framework of an European Space Agency contract, AURELIA and CAEN Aerospace have been involved in the development of the Integrated Payload Data Processing and Storage System (IPPM), a real single board compact computer suitable for supporting requirements coming from different Aerospace mission scenarios.
AURELIA in collaboration with CAEN Nuclear division has been involved in the design of sophisticated electronic equipment for nuclear and particle physics experiments: ICARUS at Gran Sasso Laboratory, CMS, ATLAS, ALICE, LHCB at CERN Large Hadron Collider (LCH).
Most of the electronic circuits used in these experiments shall work in a very high radiation environment with high magnetic fields and quite difficult accessibility. In particular, during 2005, AURELIA collaborated to the development of the readout system for ALICE Time of Flight detector composed of 77 water cooled crates housing more than 170.000 acquisition channels. The entire system shall be used close to the detector and will work under moderate radiation and intense magnetic field (5 Kgauss).
AURELIA Microelettronica is qualified as Authorised Research Laboratory of the MIUR (Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research) for: Electronic Equipment and Systems Construction and Electronics Devices Design.
